OVERVIEW
The METASCHISMSCAPES series is fundamentally based on:
#1: high contrast black ink on white paper for efficiency of execution and reproduction
#2: organic free forms juxtaposed by simple geometry
#3: improvised composition throughout sequence of design
#4: template dimension of an arbitrary 7.5 x 10 inches
#5: primarily abstraction, though intentionaly recognizable objects may be used
Primary motive: to produce uniquely original imagery, stimulate visual curiosity, and inspire creative thought expansion.
Developement is founded on my paintings from 2002-2007
Materials: Strathmore 60lb. sketch paper. Sharpie fine point and broad tip pens. This series began while I was booking punk/hardcore/etc. shows as a curator at avspace.org. I sharpened my drawing skills by making flyers/posters for all the events I booked/supervised and gave away 11" x 14" copies as souveniers. When the venue was shut down in June 2007, I used the momentum of drawing regularly to continue pushing the series. I put together a collection of these flyers titled "Worgink for Free" which can be seen at Gigposters. Those and the rest of my portfolio can be found at: Art Conspiracy.
Exhibitions:
6.5.09 "Get a Grip" Four Walls Gallery curated by Krudco manager Alan Presutti. Fundraiser for ROC City Park
2 enlarged, cropped photocopies w/ acrylic medium on plywood.
10.2.09 "Bump In the Night" 1975 Gallery at Surface Salon curated by gallery manager Erich Lehman. 1 year aniversary group show.
2 enlarged photocopies w/ acrylic medium on canvas
2 reduced photocopies w/acrylic medium on laminate flooring *all with self made frames
